Tsam Tsam Ecotourism Site


In 2013, OELO completed Phase I of construction at its ecotourism site, Tsam Tsam. Three specialists came
from Libreville to lend technical advice on design and a team of over 30 lake residents participated in creating
five platforms. Locations for each platform were chosen to maximize views and airflow while minimizing
disturbance to the lakeshore. Platforms were built around existing trees to minimize clearing of vegetation and
to prevent erosion. Because of wide seasonal variation in water levels, the platforms were built on stilts ranging
between two and four meters. While positioned over
